What a defined fragment length means
Our target range is 20 to 80 base pairs, and the range matters more than the number.
When people ask what is different about our PDRN, we answer with a range. Our fragments run from 20 to 80 base pairs, roughly 13 to 53 kilodaltons. The PDRN in the literature commonly spans a far wider range, and ours is defined.
A defined range means we can characterise a batch and compare it with another. We lay two batches made months apart side by side and check that the fragments fall where they should. When they do, tolerability testing, formulation and the studies to come rest on material that behaves the same way each time.
We extract the DNA, purify it and bring it to the range, and we have developed our own method for each of the three steps. The last step makes the range, and the first two decide whether it can be made cleanly. Plant cells are among the hardest biological sources to open, which is one reason few groups have tried.
None of this establishes what the material does in people. Our most advanced programme is preclinical, and no Synthena medicine has been approved for any indication. A defined length is a statement about consistency, and consistency has to come before anything else.
About Synthena Pharmaceuticals
Synthena Pharmaceuticals Limited is a pharmaceutical company founded in Hong Kong in July 2026 and focused on one substance, PDRN. Its aim is to turn PDRN into medicines made without animal-derived sources, produced within a defined fragment-length range and studied across five fields of human biology. Its most advanced programme is preclinical; no Synthena medicine has entered clinical trials or been approved for any indication.
This page describes research and development. It does not establish the safety or efficacy of any Synthena medicine.
