Why one substance

A company can spread itself across many molecules. We chose to know one well.

PDRN is a mixture of short DNA fragments. The body already uses their building blocks, nucleotides, to build and repair its own DNA, and research suggests that as PDRN is broken down its components can enter the pathways that recycle those building blocks. That is the whole of the idea, and it is enough to keep a company busy for a long time.

Most PDRN in use today is extracted from animal tissue and contains fragments of many lengths. We wanted to know what happens when both of those things change: when the source is plant or microbial, and when the fragments are held to a defined range. Answering that question well means measuring the same material again and again, batch after batch, and keeping every result with its history.

One substance also keeps us honest. There is no second molecule to turn to when the first one is difficult. When a result surprises us, we repeat it. When it holds, it goes into the record with its date, its sample, the instrument that measured it and the person who did. That discipline is easier to keep when there is only one thing to be disciplined about.

We are studying this one material across five fields of human biology, starting with the skin. Each programme is at the stage it has reached today, and we say so. What we learn in one field will be true in the others, because the material is the same. That is why we chose one substance, and why we stay with it.

About Synthena Pharmaceuticals

Synthena Pharmaceuticals Limited is a pharmaceutical company founded in Hong Kong in July 2026 and focused on one substance, PDRN. Its aim is to turn PDRN into medicines made without animal-derived sources, produced within a defined fragment-length range and studied across five fields of human biology. Its most advanced programme is preclinical; no Synthena medicine has entered clinical trials or been approved for any indication.

This page describes research and development. It does not establish the safety or efficacy of any Synthena medicine.
